BBQ & Picnic areas

Goomalling has a popular cafe, good taverns and roadhouses to eat at, but if you fancy a BBQ or picnic, try the following spots.

Planning a bigger event? Ask the Shire about venues for hire and ask our local eateries about catering.

BBQs

War Memorial Park

Centrally located on the main street of Goomalling, Railway Terrace, so there is plenty of parking, clean and modern public toilets (two each for male and female) and Go Café is just across the road for a barista coffee. There is an electric BBQ, two gazebos with tables and chairs, a huge shady gum tree with wrap around seating, paved area surrounded by garden beds and turf.

Oak Park Picnic Area

15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Goomalling, Oak Park has a wood BBQ, covered table and chairs, plenty of parking and a long drop toilet. There is a walk trail through Oak Park so you can see the wetlands, bushland and gnamma holes.

Picnic spots

As well as the places with BBQs above, there are many more spots you might like to stop for a picnic.

Mortlock River

Located 10km south of Goomalling on the Toodyay Rd, the Mortlock River picnic area has plenty of parking, a long drop toilet and the car park is only a short walk to the river.

Anstey Park

Between the Post Office and Go Café on Railway Tce, there is a nice bit of grass for the kids to run around on and a gazebo for your picnic. The clean and modern public toilets are just across the road and there’s plenty of parking.

Gabby Quoi Quoi lookout

Admire the native revegetation work carried out by the farming families of the Gabby Quoi Quoi catchment in this area while you enjoy your picnic.

Goomalling Recreation Ground

There is a shady playground for the kids with two shaded tables and chairs for picnics. The public toilets are only a few minutes’ walk away on Railway Tce, or if you come on a day where sport is being played, all the amenities in the sports pavilion will be open, including some lovely country catering.

Lions Park

The Lions Park is in the Goomalling Museum precinct so you can check out the old and rare machinery display and old bus while you’re picnicking there. Located next to the Goomalling War Memorial Swimming Pool, the park has a picnic table but no public toilet facilities. If you go when the pool is open you can use the toilets, other amenities and kiosk at the pool for a very small entrance fee.

Roadside picnic areas

Scattered alongside roads in the Shire of Goomalling are picnic tables amongst trees and farms that you are welcome to stop at
